Abstract

The article examines the linguo-cultural concept “refugees” by the material of the Russian and French languages. The authors focus on comparing the scope of notions in the Russian and French languages, on the analysis of extensive synonymous series and the study of the verbalization of the concept in the speech of contemporaries. The research material is the modern press and Internet sources: online dictionaries, comments from readers and forum participants on migration issues. The findings of the work demonstrate similarities in the description of the image of a modern migrant by means of the Russian and French languages.
