Abstract

At all times, plants have played an important role in human life. They were a source of food and helped people to treat diseases and cope with ailments, they were sung by poets, and artists reflected their beauty in their paintings. Since ancient times, plants have been used in decorating homes and have become dominant in the creation of gardens. In addition to their functional role, plants became symbols and were endowed with spiritual power. The cult of veneration of trees was especially widespread in the countries of the East.The article presents research materials on the nature of the use of woody plants in Muslim gardens. The analysis of the symbolic and general cultural significance of trees in the gardens of Central and Central Asia is carried out. A list of the main woody plants and lianas used in gardens and parks during the many thousand-year history of the countries of the East has been determined. The characteristic features of woody plants used in the landscape art of Persia, India, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, etc. are revealed.
