Abstract

The article is aimed at exploring possible ways of increasing the effectiveness of foreign communicative competency formation when teaching maritime English to future seafarers in the framework of continuous education by means of using e-teaching. It is declared that modern educational technologies of electronic teaching are the important component of professional as well as communicative training of future seafarers because they allow for the possibility receive and process all necessary information fast and easily thus providing for the achievement of educational goals. Modern computer-based devices and technologies enhance the effectiveness of the educational process owning to the increasing volume and quality of educational information presentation, the creation of specific object-motivational environment which promote cognitive activity of students because of their content-oriented nature. Besides, the diverse impact of the mentioned technologies on the tree types of memory makes better memorizing of educational material possible. At the same time it is specifically emphasized that communicative teaching is not possible under the condition of total computerization of the educational process. The communication and face-to-face interaction remains the key aspect of successful language teaching. Thus, it has been concluded that the combination face-to-face classroom activities with some on-line or computer-based component should be introduced into the practice of communicative competence formation, which is traditionally known as blended learning. The article suggests the description of the main peculiar features of ICT usage in the blended learning model at different stages of cadets’ professional training in the framework of continuous learning. The author grounds the necessity of considering presented pedagogical conditions which depend on the specific peculiarities of this or that stage of education, on the requirements to the final communicative competency level of formation. It is also proved that not following the stated conditions can result in the decrease of the effectiveness of the educational process. The article provides specific methodological recommendations which will help to organize blended-learning in the English classroom while teaching «Maritime English» at different stages of education in the pedagogical complex «lyceum-college-academy».
