Abstract

The purpose of this study was to research how to give the coach ing knowledge of swimming players and how to develop coaching knowledge by experience, understanding and reminiscence from coaching in field. For this purpose, we used qualitative research for the five coa ches who produced national swimming players and national swimming backup players were participated. The results of our study were as follows : The first, the process of self-awareness : the attitude of mind toward educator. The second, swimming coaching knowledge of contents : classification into theory and skill The third, swimming coaching knowledge of method: classification into instruction of training and management of athletes. The fourth, swimming coaching knowledge of application : sugges tion of individual strategy for each athletes. The fifth, swimming knowledge of situation : difficulty of using the facility. These five coaching knowledges might be related to each other and furthermore we concluded that it might be more desirable to develop the knowledge system of coaching by deductive method than to reduce the knowledge system by deductive method.
