Abstract

We investigated the actual management conditions of kleingartens by the organizations in the rural areas of Kamiya, Fudouson, and Umenosato. Following are the conclusions of this investigation: 1) In each case, a run-up of several years was necessary to establish an organization for kleingarten management. 2) The main expenses such as the running cost of facilities and the labor cost for the manager were covered mainly by the consignment fee from the municipal administration. 3) A way of increasing the incomes of the organization members is to create income sources other than the consignment fee, such as farmers market and agricultural experience.
