Abstract

In line with global trends in artificial intelligence technologies development, there is an urgent need to transfer the existing instrumental methods of psychological science, which have been scientifically substantiated and proved in practice, to digital technologies. The author analyses the state of affairs in Russian differential psychophysiology, specifically in the area where the issues of conditioning an individual’s psychological characteristics by his natural inclinations — the nervous system properties (NSP) has historically been studied. It is noted that many of the methods and instruments for measuring human NSP that existed in the past did not stand the test of time: some of them were forgotten or abandoned, others were not introduced into the practice of assisting professions at an appropriate time, and yet others, due to their characteristics, ultimately cannot be transformed into digital form. We suggest that the motor techniques for measuring the NSP developed by E. P. Ilyin have no rivals and no alternative, both for historical and objective reasons. The implementation of Ilyin’s methods based on digital technologies using mobile devices in the field close to the real workplace conditions allows us to predict an individual’s natural psychological characteristics and psychological type; to assess current psychophysiological states; to identify psychophysiological and psychological compatibility in a partnership or a team. The method’s potential listed here is substantiated by patents in the field of psychophysiology and psychology, which is consistent with and can be integrated into the structure of such a highly developed area of digital technologies as predictive analytics. The author notes that the innovative potential of the methods using mobile devices has been successfully tested during pilot studies in several state corporations and recommended by experts for further implementation in HR practice. The article emphasises that a timely transition to the digital format will not only achieve the potential of Ilyin’s motor techniques, but also introduce other achievements of Russian psychophysiology and psychology into practice. This will enable researchers to obtain new experimental data based on the results of large-scale surveys and to maintain a high level of demand for psychological science and practice in all areas of human life.
