Abstract
Semantic factor plays a decisive role in the process of construction evolution. The so-called double object constructions such as “converted verb”, “causative verb”, “conative verb” and “instrument” and so on break away from the prototype meaning of double object construction and semantic transparency requests construction to suppress them out of it; existential sentences are of unicity in semantics and semantic richness request construction to absorb unaccusative verbs, unergative verbs and transitive verbs into it. The equilibrium point of expression transparency and richness is prototype meaning of construction.
