Abstract

The content of the concept of language purity in the works of the outstanding linguist I. Ogienko is considered. The stylistic vocabulary and other scientific researches and textbooks contributed to the normalization of spelling of certain words, the choice of grammatical forms, expressions, the affirmation of the literary language common to the two parts of Ukraine. The main semantic accents of the multidimensional notion of language purity and an important communicative feature of speech culture – purity of speech – are summarized. Pure language is not a special quality of language, but a manifestation of the dignity of language, that is, a conscious choice of the speaker, the relation of language between the literary language and the moral consciousness of man. The purity of language is one of the manifestations of correctness, these two concepts are most closely related. Linguistic aspects of the expression of the purity of language - orthoepy, vocabulary, and intonation. Pure speech is a normative language at all levels of language, in which there are no extra-literary elements of language (vernacularisms, barbarisms, vulgarisms, stationery, stamps, vocabulary, jargon, parasites, etc.). The sociolinguistic phenomenon – surzhyk, which destroys the language from within, is investigated. The purity of language is a sense of measure, taste, expediency in the selection of linguistic units. It concerns the use of foreign words, jargon, slang; Accent is placed on the youth environment. The purity of language is the quality and effectiveness of communication. Four stages of the emergence of dictionaries, textbooks, recommendations, monographs aimed at improving the purity of the language and enhancing the speech culture have been investigated. The most common modern electronic resources on cleanliness and enrichment of the Ukrainian language are described. Perspective directions of research on the manifestation of the purity of language and speech in different spheres are noted.
