Abstract
Today the railway industry is characterized by a critical level of wear and tear of rolling stock and railway infrastructure, reducing the level of implementation of transit potential, deteriorating financial and economic performance of the railway company, reducing its investment and credit ratings, lack of necessary funding for processes of innovation and technological development of rail transport. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the perspective directions of investment support for the development of domestic rail transport in terms of integration into the world transport and logistics system. In the article analyzes the main sources of investment support for the development of rail transport, among which the most important is their own financial resources. The modern financial situation of the railway industry has been analyzed, which has revealed the shortage of own financial capabilities for ensuring its effective functioning. The key directions of investment of rail transport for 2018 are considered, which has made it possible to outline its main investment needs: construction of objects modern transport and logistics infrastructure; ensuring the electrification of rail transport; introduction of intelligent rail transport systems; ensuring innovation and technological modernization and updating of rolling stock and railway infrastructure; introduction of high-speed traffic on railway transport; provision of technical and technological development of production and repair base of industrial enterprises of railway transport, etc. A model of investment support for the development of the rail industry is formed, which involves the creation of a National Investment Fund for the development of rail transport, the allocation of subjects and investment instruments. It is noted that the formation of this type of investment structure will create conditions for targeted financing of the identified investment needs of rail transport, ensuring transparency of investment activity of the railway industry and increase its investment attractiveness for potential investors.
