Abstract
The article analyses how motives of the ancient Chinese pre-texts are implemented in poetry by A. Achair and B. Volkov, representatives of the “Eastern branch” of the Russian emigration (the 1920-1940s). The researchers propose a thesis that allusions to the ancient Chinese poetry constitute poetical originality of post-texts. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researchers for the first time examine little-known poets’ works and tackle the problem which has not been previously investigated. The findings indicate that the Russian émigré poets suggested a free interpretation of the Chinese pre-texts and abandoned the tradition of restrained narration typical of the Tang classics Li Chi and Wang Changling. Adherence to the Russian literary tradition adds rich imagery to A. Achair’s and B. Volkov’s poetical texts.
