Abstract

The topic of the article is the analysis of features in the conditions of banking regulation in the Russian Federation. The subject is banks operating in the Russian Federation, implementing various strategies in the context of financial globalization aimed at acquiring corporate control. The object is the process of mergers and acquisitions in the banking sector in Russia. The objectives are: to identify the specifics of legislation regarding mergers and acquisitions in the banking sector in the Russian Federation, as well as to identify the problems of these processes and to propose directions for the development of the banking mergers and acquisitions market. The results of the study: determination of the causes and trends of consolidation of the Russian banking sector, comparison of relevant Russian and foreign experience. The scope of the results: justification of the choice of individual banks in favor of mergers or acquisitions, development of a state strategy and regulatory framework in the process of mergers and acquisitions in the banking sector. Conclusions: mergers and acquisitions are a complex mechanism. In Russia, there are problems of this sector in connection with the currency crisis, international sanctions and restrictions of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. The main advantage of these transactions is a qualitatively new level of their functioning, therefore there is a need to form a competently developed strategy in order to prevent monopolization of the banking sector.
