Abstract
The reconstrucion of the surgical defect is essential for the treatment of skin cancer. As for the procedures, there are various techniques such as split thickness skin graft, full thickness skin graft, skin flaps and musculocutanneous flaps. Advantages and disadvantages of each procedures are reviewed briefly. In my opinion, the decision which technique to choose depends on the type of the cancer, the depth of tumor invasion, the location of the tumor, the age and the complication of the patient, the expected prognosis, the curability, and the surgeons' skill. Some of the clinical cases are presented, and the process of decision making is discussed for each cases. Presented cases are basal cell epithelioma on the nose, malignat melanoma of the sole, squamous cell carcinoma of the foot, basal cell epithelioma invading the orbita, ulcerating basal cell epithelioma on the upper lip, chondrosarcoma on the nose, genital Paget's disease and invasive aquamous cell carcinoma of the lower abdomen.
