Abstract

Students’ psychological safety in the educational environment is essential for their successful personal and intellectual development that is emphasized in the 2009 Federal State Educational Standard of Primary General Education. The relevance of the paper is determined by the increased attention of modern psychology to the study of various aspects of personal security in the contemporary society. The authors describe the environmental factors that can affect the state of psychological safety of a primary school student. The empirical research identified three types of educational environment. The first type is a supportive environment contributing to the overall mental development by providing school students with the experience of psychological comfort and safety. The second type is a permissive environment characterized by an average physical and psychological comfort with a low level of educational and cognitive stimulation. The third type is the environment of formal requirements marked by a reduced level of physical and psychological comfort along with a focus on educational achievements and insufficient attention to other aspects of the school student’s personality development.
