Abstract

The purpose of this study is to conduct a satisfaction survey according to various generations and information literacy within the multimedia center. And this study suggest a spatial planning direction so that local residents can receive more digital environment-friendly space in public libraries. In this study, users were divided into generations and information literacy to prepare a digital environment-friendly design, and the results of analysis of the satisfaction with the space planning elements and VDT components in the multimedia center can be defined as follows by digital users. First, it was found that the overall satisfaction level was the lowest for all space planning elements in the first generation, and that the VDT components also felt uncomfortable with their use. Second, satisfaction with information literacy showed the lowest level of satisfaction with psychological and technical factors in general and vulnerable group. Third, we looked at the satisfaction level of the multimedia center according to the location and spatial composition of the public library. The findings showed that overall, public libraries located in Gyeonggi had higher satisfaction levels than public libraries located in Seoul. In addition, the spatial planning factors of the multimedia center were more satisfactory in relation to the spaces of other functions than those of the independent multimedia center. Fourth, using VDT, digital users often maintain the same posture for long periods of time in order to access digital data and receive services. Therefore, it should be planned to select ergonomically suitable desks and chairs for efficient use of VDT and feel physically comfortable. In the future, preference and demand for multimedia center should be investigated. Furthermore, we should propose a multimedia center space plan to accommodate the diversity of digital users.
