Abstract

CT/MR perfusion imaging is widely used in assessing patients with acute ischemic stroke. However, its methods of examination/analysis/evaluation are considerably different among institutions and vendors. Recently, Acute Stroke Imaging Standardization Group (ASIST) - Japan has driven forward standardization of the CT/MR perfusion imaging techniques : e.g. development of procedure guidelines, cross validation of analysis algorithms, introduction of a standardized color look-up table, proposition of auto window techniques, and development of original software. Standardization is considered to be crucial to improve the reliability of CT/ MR perfusion imaging, to carry out MRI-based clinical trials, and to establish its clinical significance in acute stroke managements.
