Abstract

The monograph presents the methodology developed by the authors for the formation of foreign language reading competence in students of technical and non-linguistic universities, which are characterized by imperfect knowledge of the studied foreign language. The authors set an ambitious goal — to teach real foreign language reading to University students of these profiles, i.e. to form their foreign language reading competence, despite the big flaws in their knowledge of a foreign language. Realizing this goal, the authors have developed a methodology on the idea of substitutionality of insufficient possession of the main components of foreign-language reading competence of students forming their auxiliary components, which are considered in the monograph compensatory, strategic, selective competence. Theoretical positions are accompanied by extensive illustrative material in the form of exercises, trainings and tasks. The book is addressed to teachers of foreign languages of technical universities, graduate students, doctoral students in the field of training 13.00.02 "Theory and methods of training and education (foreign languages)."
