Abstract

This study focuses on current trends in which childcare, which used to be completely dependent on mothers, is now handled by childcare teachers in early childhood institutes in reflection of the social trend of dual income families. Picture book reading, which is a form of education and play for young children, is implemented by childcare teachers. At this, analysis was conducted on the relationship between the academic variables and age variables of childcare teachers and picture book selection. The purpose of this study was to provide exploratory base material on children’s fairy tale books through this and in improving the perceptions of teachers on picture books. Research results showed that there were no significant differences among the academic variables and age variables of childcare teachers working in early childhood institutes in the selection of picture books.
