Abstract
The acceleration of social processes in the world causes increased interest in their driving forces. The main engine of social processes is scientific and technological progress, that is, the development of the productive forces of society, leading to significant changes in production relations and, as a result, to fundamental social changes. However, there is no clear idea of the nature of the relationship between the productive forces and production relations today. In our opinion, in order to establish it, it is necessary to introduce one more link between them - the social division of labor. The essence of this phenomenon, its emergence, development and functioning, and ultimately elimination, is the subject of this study. The book is intended for all those who are interested in this issue.
