Abstract

Lubrication between the piston and cylinder of a swashplate type axial piston pumps and motors produce large effect on their performance. It is desirable that make fluid lubrication condition in this sliding parts to decrease friction and abrasion. Understanding of lubrication condition between the piston and cylinder is very important to make fluid lubrication condition in large operating ranges. Therefore, we proposed observing and evaluating the degree of metal contact and separation based on fluid film between the piston and cylinder under mixed lubrication condition. This method of observation and evaluation were announced.In this report, influence of radial clearance and piston shape are cleared, and give consideration to improvement of lubrication condition between the piston and cylinder. Further, the effect of the forced lubrication is examined.
