Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between adolescent`s participation in leisure sports activity and stress, school life adjustment. The subjects of this study were high school students. Using systematic cluster random sampling, 480 students were sampled and asked to respond the survey. To analyze the data collected for this study, SPSS 11.0 program was used for compare mean, ANCOVA, multiple regression analysis, and path analysis. The results from this study are as follows: First, the type of leisure activity participation influenced stress and school life adjustment. In detail, leisure sports activity reduce stress experience and increase school life adjustment. Second, the degree of participation in leisure sports activity influenced stress and school life adjustment. In detail, the intensity of participation in leisure sports activity influenced stress and school life adjustment. And frequency of participation in leisure sports activity influenced stress. Third, the degree of participation in leisure sports activity among adolescent showed significant causal relationship with stress and school life adjustment. In detail, not only the intensity but also frequency of participation in leisure sports activity had direct and indirect influence on stress and school life adjustment.
