Abstract

Background Synergetic fluorinated surface-active substances mixtures only in foam generating compositions under liquid burning conditions is not enough to ensure contact stability of foams that pretend to be universal for extinguishing fire of liquids of any class since the foam stability on the surface of certain organic liquids, e.g. isopropanol, is lost with increase in temperature. Aims and Objectives To investigate surface activity of hexafluoropropylene oxide-based compounds. Methods Thermodynamic tests Conclusion The performed study allowed to define another line of studying higher contact stability of foams on the surface of organic liquids. The method consists in reducing the doze of aggressive solvent added to foam and, thus, in lowering the concentration of the solvent in foam channels due to insoluble polymer layer formed on the foam-organic liquid interface.
