Abstract

The article clarifies the relevance of leadership competence of economic area of expertise students, as well as technologies, forms and methods of the above-mentioned phenomenon formation during their professional training process. Educational and professional training programs for economists in specialties 051 "Business Economics" and 075 "Marketing", and a number of other regulations have been analysed. It has been established the leadership competence can be interpreted as a key professional competence of economic area of expertise students. It is an integral characteristic of a specialist's ability to competently realize leadership activities in the professional sphere. It has been determined the leadership competence is a component of entrepreneurial competence, therefore it should be indicated in the list of program learning outcomes and vocational training results for economic area of expertise students. It has been found the leadership competencies formation in future economists in terms of profession training occurs in several areas. The first direction determines the need to update the content of educational components, to include in their list those that are directly aimed at students' knowledge in the field of leadership, team management and organizational development. The second direction involves the shaping of the leadership behaviour foundations via specially designed learning tools. The expediency of active educational technologies (practice-oriented, game-focused, interactive, problem-based ones), as well as expanding the limits of interdisciplinary integration in the formation of students' leadership competence have been determined. The third direction covers the formation of experience of leadership behaviour in the system of extracurricular activities within the specialty and volunteer work of future economists. It has been established that such work should be consistent with the content of future profession and initiate the manifestation of leadership qualities of economic area of expertise students. It has been substantiated the initiation of such activities in the educational institution should be led by reputable professionals-leaders. The prospects for further research have been determined; they mean the development of the concept of extracurricular activities of educational institutions for the formation of leadership competencies of economic area of expertise students.
