Abstract

The housing culture of Korea, focused mainly on apartments, has grown quantitatively. Accordingly, human life has become extremely uniform and residents have become severely alienated from each other. In order to revitalize the community, community housing has been suggested as a solution for the mentioned problems. The purpose of this study is to understand the environmental affordance in the social integrated community housing space, based on residents’ needs. The mentioned method adopted the walk through the evaluation method and the collected data were analyzed using the User Benefit Criteria.BR As result, a total of 177 items of the design characteristics and the interior elements which provided environmental affordance, were deducted and the features were analyzed based on the User Benefit Criteria. The characteristics of ‘physiological maintenance’ dimension were highly emphasized and the characteristics of ‘Social Facilitation’ were then highlighted.
