Abstract

A total of 105 strains ofYersinia enterocolitica (YE) were isolated from bovine cecal contents, commercial meat, and the employees' fingers, utensils, and facilities of meat shops. They belonged to biotype 1. They were divided into 11 serotypes, of which 05, 010, and 012 showed a high frequency of detection. In addition, 95 strains of nontypical YE were isolated.YE was detected from 10.3% of 145 samples of bovine cecal contents, 24.2% of 61 samples of beef, 67.5% of 40 samples of pork, 40.0% of 40 samples of chicken, and 23.7% of 228 swab samples collected in meat shops.
