Abstract

The angular momentum transfer between electronic and heavy particle motion has been studied for resonant electron capture at an energy E c.m. = 100 eV in collisions of laser excited Na *(3 2P 3 2 , F = 3, M F = ±3) with Na +. The experimental results are compared to calculations employing a quasiclassical treatment with correct asymptotic conditions assured by a common translation factor and including eight molecular states.
