Abstract
Science magazine currently remains the main source of primary scientific information. Changing the format of the information requirements to the scientific article, business model used for its publication, but obviously for a long time, he will remain the main source of scientific information. In the article the author's view on the use of scientometric indices in evaluating the effectiveness of scientific activity, and some of the problems arising from the publication of a scientific journal in Russian. In 2017 marks 20 years since the release of trans-atomic number of the journal «Khimija Rastitel’nogo Syr’ja» (Chemistry of plant raw material). In this paper we analyzed the publication activity in the log using the data of the Russian Science Citation Index (RISC) (elibrary.ru). The features of the review process adopted in the magazine and the use of modern information technologies for the functioning of the editorial board. In an e-version of the platform uses a system of Open Journal Systems (OJS) - open source software for the organization of the peer-reviewed scientific publications, developed by Public Knowledge Project. Despite certain difficulties with the publication, the scientific journal «Khimija Rastitel’nogo Syr’ja» (Chemistry of plant raw material) in the year of its twentieth anniversary, looking confidently to the future.

Summary
Научный журнал в настоящее время остается основным источником первичной научной информации. В качестве платформы электронной редакции используется система Open Journal Systems (OJS) — открытое программное обеспечение для организации рецензируемых научных изданий, разработанное Public Knowledge Project. В настоящей работе нам бы хотелось высказать свое мнение по поводу современного развития научных журналов как основных источников научной информации, подвести итоги работы журнала «Химия растительного сырья» за последнее время и оценить перспективы его дальнейшего развития.
