Abstract

This study was conducted targeting a total of 348 people consisting of 174 children aged three to five and 174 parents. It aims to figure out the children’s stress levels by analyzing their basic life styles, exercise capacities, and physical activities according to the stress levels and to provide basic data for the future development of child health behavioral model. According to the result, among 174 children, 112 were “under no stress (64.4%),” 24 were “under a little stress,” 17 were “under stress,” 21 were “under a lot of stress,” which showed that the number of those who were under stress was 62 (35.6%). The result of analyzing the children’s basic life styles and stress levels showed that there were statistically significant differences in wake-up time, free time, and time spent watching TV. In the case of children, too much or too little free time given to them in their daily lives can lead to higher stress levels. It is necessary to present moderate guidelines that they can follow. In addition, all the exercise capacities including general endurance, left-right muscular strength, agility, and left-right balance gradually increased from three to five years of age, but it appeared not to be related to stress. There were also differences in the amount of children’s physical activity and stress level by age, but it was not irrelevant to their stress levels. Accordingly, this study suggests that a health behavioral model suitable for children is developed in follow-up studies to present guidelines of health lifestyle.
