Abstract

This study tried to explore the interpersonal characteristics of a dark personality by confirmingthe relationship between anger and loneliness, which appears in a dark personality, throughempathy. For this purpose, 1000 adult males in the nationwide region were assessed by darktetrad, empathy, loneliness, and anger and analyzed. Results are as follows, First, the pathsleading to loneliness and anger t hrough personal distress, which is a sub-factor of emotionalempathy, were significant for Machiavellianism, narcissistic personality, and psychoticpersonality. Also, the path leading to loneliness through empathic concern, a sub-factor ofaffective empathy, was significant. Second, the paths leading to loneliness and anger throughperspective taking, which is a sub-factor of cognitive empathy, were significant for narcissisticpersonality and psychotic personality. Based on these results, it was confirmed that empathicresponses may appear differently depending on the characteristics of each dark personality. Thissuggests that empathy-focused interventions can be useful to decrease the loneliness and angermanifested by the dark personality.
