Abstract

The paper examined several key indicators of the 2022 population census in the Republic of Armenia. It is noted that the rate of decline in the permanent and existing population of the Republic of Armenia is of particular concern. Between 2001 and 2022, there were also negative changes in the age and sex composition of the existing population. In particular, the population under the age of 30 in 2022 decreased by approximately one-third (34%) compared to 2001. The population within the age group from 30 to 54 declined by about 10% on average. The opposite situation is observed in the age group of individuals over 60 years. During this period, the population over 60 years of age almost doubled (191%) and amounted to about 25.1% of the existing population. According to the results of the 2022 census, about 45% of women in the age group from 20 to 34 years old have never had children, which proves that the average reproductive age of women is gradually increasing.
