Abstract
A finite element analytical method for reinforced concrete (RC) shear walls subjected to lateral force is proposed using constitutive laws developed on the basis of in-plane shear loading test results of RC panels. Shear wall specimens with differences in concrete strength, shear span ratio, loading condition and reinforcement quantity were analyzed to verify applicability of the proposed method. The analytical results of 57 specimens gave good agreements with the test results on load-deflection relationships, ultimate strengths and failure modes. Especially good approximations were provided on the ultimate strengths under various conditions. It is concluded that the proposed method has wide applicability in the prediction of the strength of RC shear walls.
