Abstract

There is analyzed the problem of population relocation and internal migration in the Namangan oblast in the mid-1950s. The author points out that the migration policy,which has been carried out by the party and the Soviet authorites, was aimed the development of virgin and fallow lands in the Ferghana Valley and further development of cotton growing in the Uzbek SSR. The social structure of the resettled people of new collective and state farms of the Namangan oblast was also studied
