Abstract

In this paper, we present an effective method of finite element analysis of a-highrrise building by using the thin-walled beam theory considering the effect of shear deformation for its structural planning or preliminary design. We investigate the fundamental characteristics of this method such as the convergence of solutions in the finite element division and the accuracy of static and dynamic solutions by the analysis of a high-rise frame structure based on an actual building with bi-axial symmetric plan of a tube type subjected to lateral force. It has shown in these examples that the present results are good approximation.
