Abstract

To control Thrips palmi on greenhouse sweet pepper cultivated in the autumn-winter season from October to December, the predatory mite, Amblyseius cucumeris, and the anthocorid bug, Orius sauteri, were released. For A. cucumeris, 100 adults per plant were released three times at about one week intervals from 3 days after planting. The T. palmi population was effectively controlled at about 1/3-1/5 the density of the control plot for 1.5 months after planting. For O. sauteri, 5 adults per plant were released twice at about one week intervals from 3 days after planting. The T. palmi population was effectively controlled at a density of about 1/5 or lower than that of the control plot for 2 months after planting.
