Abstract

In this paper, we examine the genre features of the work of Christiana F. from the aspect of his contribution to the modification of certain canonical (classical) features of memoir-autobiographical prose. We observe the genre aspects (faces) of Christiana’s work in a narrower and wider context, more precisely through the developmental line of her confession in the book Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo, 1979, to My Second Life (Mein Zweites Leben, co-authored with Sonja Vuković), 2013), on the relation memoirs - autobiography, and in a broader context of modification of the genre framework of classical autobiographical-memoir prose through topos of documentary / testimony, social engagement, divided (ambivalent) personality of the memoirist - moral witness, chronotope experience (city and real time). In the conclusion of the paper, we synthesize the genre and stylistic features of Christiana’s works with the aim of pointing out the general places of contemporary prose of «Christiana’s type» (testimonies of former addicts).
