Abstract
Tamano Smelter of Hibi Kyodo Smelting Co., Ltd.started its operation in January 1972, employing FSFE (Flash Smelting Furnace with Furnace Electrodes) for smelting and PRC (Periodic Reverse Current) for refining.Its original production capacities were 101, 000 tonnes per year of anode copper and 84, 000 tonnes per year of electrolytic copper.Tamano Smelter has steadily increased production capacity, improved productivity and reduced production cost.The production capacities of anode copper and electrolytic copper have been increased to 226, 300 and 161, 000 tonnes per year, respectively.This paper describes the production capacity expansions, energy saving and the other technical improvements and developments for the last 10 years.
