Abstract

Coal liquefaction test of Teiheiyo coal has been carried out in the presence of three natural pyrites in 0.1t/d bench plant. The effect of their amount of addition, particle size and reaction condition on coal liquefaction was examined. These results were compared with those in the presence of synthetic pyrite, iron are and red mud.As a result, it was found that the concentration of active hydrogen increases with increasing the surface area of natural pyrites as well as the increase of pressure to stabilize fragments produced due to thermal cleavage, to suppress the formation of gaseous products and to increase oil yield.
