Abstract

This article studies the origins, content and forms of the genre of investigative journalism, the historical ways of its formation, improvement and further development. The main topics of journalistic investigations in the mass media are criminal and legal issues, political and economic problems, covered in the mass media of the republican and regional scale. It was noted that journalism is an effective public tool to combat the arbitrariness of officials and corruption that control the activities of state institutions, and that the media raise important issues for society and the state. Arguing for their public data, strictly adhering to such principles as equal coverage of both sides, they transmitted objective information from the pages of newspapers, television and Internet resources.
