Abstract

Model calculations for a tritium cycle in a conceptual laser fusion reactor "SENRI-I" were carried out. Time behaviors of tritium concentration in liquid lithium coolant and of amount of tritium in a target factory were analyzed for parameters of tritium breeding ratio and of tritium critical concentration ρc. Tritium in lithium can be recovered for tritium concentration higher than ρc. When value of ρc is assumed to be 10 atomic ppm, the tritium concentration becomes that of ρc in a few days after start up and approaches to 10.7 appm in the equilibrium state. The initial inventory and doubling time of "SENRI-I" are determined mainly by the critical concentration ρc and breeding ratio of tritium, respectively. The initial inventory of "SENRI-I" is 1.3×107Ci and this amount is produced in a month after start up.
