Abstract

The Korean healthcare system is facing a crisis as local medical care, including essential healthcare, is at risk of collapse. This commentary argues that bold action from the medical community and the government is urgently needed to save the system and that ad hoc measures will not suffice. It is time for the medical community to reflect on their professionalism from the perspective of the people and for the government to listen to the voices of medical personnel and reexamine the Korean medical system as a whole.
