Abstract

This study was to describe the beauty of Korean tea room “Whallae Jeong” in terms of its inter and outer environmental harmony in the era of Joseon Dynasty. In general, architecture reflects the world view of th people in the era. It involves the view points of people' thought and the view point of nature and human relationships as well. Therefore, architecture itself interconnected with the how to human being lives with harmony. In this perspective, Whallae-Jeong is a place to exhibit outstanding works of artists in that era. Thus, Whallae-Jeong tea room reflects style of art in Joseon Dynasty. Moreover, Whallae-Jeong tea room makes a good harmony with outer environments as embellishing the landscape. In that case, the landscape involves the beliefs of good luck of the people as Geomancy. However, aesthetic and practical factors also considered as a significant factor in that structure. Therefore, Whallae-Jeong tea room itself is a symbol of world view of Joseon Dynasty and the items of structure reflects living styles of the people in that era. In that perspective, Whallae-Jeong represents the beauty of architecture in Joseon Dynasty.
