Abstract
I.Utilizing the combining capacity of tartaric acid, the author took a certain quantity of the acid, sodium carbonate and oxycyanide of mercury and let them react under a certain condition and obtained pure white needle-like crystals, having a chemical formula of sodium mercuric cyanide tartarate.Further the latter was treated in the presence of tartaric acid and sodium carbonate with aluminium borate and a double salt-sodium aluminium boro-mercuric cyanide tartarate named conamor, was obtaned.L'ami is a mixture of a certain quantity of the former and other constituents of the conamor and vehicles, mixed in an anhydrid condition and is made in the form of tablet for the purpose of inserting into the vaginal. After inserting it into the vagina l'ami comes in contact with the vaginal secretion and produces 30% solution of conamor, which has a great germicidal property and fills the vaginal cavity in the form of foam. Thus it kills not only three germs of the venereal deseases, but also other different germs, which might enter into the vagina.Especially, this chemical shows a great bactericidal power upon gonococcus and Ducre's streptobacillus. At the same time it has a remarable bactericidal property against bacteria of the inflammation of the respiratory canal, such as iufluenzabacillus, diphtheriabacillus, meningococcus and pneumococcus. As this drug consists of mercury and cyanic and may be poisonous on the human body even in a small quantity the author carried out several experiments with rabbits and guinea pigs and found that on introperitoneal injection of 0.15 gramm per kilogramm showed on delelerious effect. Therefore it is evident that there is caused no harm in case in which an usual dose is inhaled.II.A few year ago, the author made up a new method of a rapid cultivation of gonococcus. The method consists of making a normal flat agar medium with a very weak acid reaction, to which added defibrinated blood taken out aseptically from the heart of rabbits. Upon the surface of the media the smear is transplanted and placed in a glass jar which contains 1% solution of pyrogallic acid at the bottom. In the glass jar the medium is kept upside down without covering. Then the jar is sealed and oxygen therein sucked out. It was then placed in a thermostat. By this method not only gonococcus, but also influenzabacillus, diphtheribacillus, meningococcus and pneumococcus grows rapidily and satisfactory, and colonies of the germs will be found macroscopically after 12 to 24 hours.III.The following is the effect of l'ami on the germs.A. Gonococcus in a solution of 2.000 times.B. Influenzabacillus, diphtheriabacillus and menigococcus in a solution of 1.000 times.C. Ducrey's streptobacillus in a solution 700 times.D. Pneumococcus in a solution of 100 times. The above mentioned strength of the drug killed the germs completly within 5 minutes.E. Treponema pallidam stopped instantly their active movement in a solution of 120 times.IV.As already stated above this compound is very effective on three germs of the venereal deceases, although there are differences in strength each other. From the remarkable germicidal power, the author used it for the purpose of the prevention of the venereal deceases and asked its application several surgeons of the imperial navy and army. Very satisfactory results have been reported from variaus sources, so that there seen was no case of the deseases after its use.Although l'ami or Conamor has a great bactericical and astringent property, it is non irritant even in a very high concentration, non toxic in the usual dosage and does not stain the clothes. Therefore it may be said an ideal drug for gonorrhoea and soft chancre. As a gargle or inhale for the inflammation in the upper respiratory canal especially due to influenza it demonstrates a very desirable effect.
