Abstract

The article reveals the pedagogical potential of the modernization process and the mission of modernizing education in solving the problems that a person faces in the 21st century: various threats to his security; changing the measure of space and time; replacing spiritual life with material consumption; distortion of cultural meanings and meanings; limiting lifestyles to stereotypical and utilitarian frameworks. Using personal-oriented and culturological approaches, current goals, content and methods of education are interpreted in pedagogy. As the goal of modernized education, the phenomenon of a holistic personality is proposed and substantiated, by which the author means the subject of vital activity, characterized by internal coordination and unity of intra-personal components, strong connections between them, as well as relative independence from the influences of the external environment. Based on qualitative differences in personal position, two levels of personal integrity are distinguished: 1) consistency of ideas about the world around you and yourself (harmonious position); 2) creative attitude to the world around you and yourself (transformative position). The process of education is proposed to be designed in the logic of movement from the first level of integrity to the second, and the content and methodology of education - in the logic of the transition from the understanding of existing socio-cultural and personal values to their coordination, from adaptation to the environment - to its transformation.
