Abstract

This study analyzed of the relationship between amateur golf player and coach on depression using the Actor-Partner Interdependent Model(APIM). Specifically, the APIM is a model of dyadic relationship that integrates a conceptual view of interdependence with the appropriate statistical techniques for measurement and evaluation study. The relationship measurement in this study was constructed two factors that were the affection and the complementarity. The couple sample size was 480(240-golf coach, 240-golf player), and SPSS 26, AMOS 26 programs were used to analyze the APIM. Alpha level was set at 0.05. The results were as follows. First, the higher the affection of amateur golf player to coach, the less player’s depression and coach’s depression. Also, the higher the affection of coach to player, the less player’s depression. Second, there was no significant difference between the actor effect and the partner effect on the affection of players and coaches that influence the depression of amateur golf players and coaches. Third, the higher the complementarity of the amateur golf player to the coach, the less the player’s depression. Also, the higher the complementarity of coach, the less player’s depression and coach’s depression. Fourth, the depression of coach decreased more significantly as coach’s complementarity was higher than the complementarity of player. In other words, as for the effect of complementarity on coach depression, the actor effect was more significant than the partner effect.
