Abstract

This research presents content and routine of the wedding ceremony. The aim of the paper is to reconstruct the traditional custom from surviving memories of eyewitnesses and to identify the accompanying vocabulary in the village of Vysoky of the Talovsky district. The novelty of the study is due to the fact that for the first time a large ceremony was recorded and described in detail in a small village, which had not previously been recorded in any of the surveyed settlements of the Voronezh region. It can be safely considered an original performance. The representation of the ritual is made as an image of tradition through language, tradition in language. As a result, unusual for the 21st century features of a wedding were obtained, consisting of 22 different stages, interconnected with each other, and the vocabulary instrumental in providing insight into content of the main custom of the family cycle. The study specifies that meanings and ideals embedded in the reproduced content have now changed. The practical significance of the work lies in the fact that unique information can be used as the basis for collecting of original family cycle rituals belonging to villagers and existing in the 20th century.
