Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the factors influencing global citizenship and global citizenship education competency after identify the relationship between global citizenship education competency and global citizenship in 225 pre-service teachers of Gwangju City. The data were self-reported questionnaires and analyzed with SPSS 12.0 program. As a result of the study, The participants’ global citizenship education competency was a significant relationship in global citizenship. In addition, The significant factors were knowledge, skill, and attitude, which explained 19.6% of global citizenship education competency. Through this, it was found that the higher the level of global citizenship, the higher the level of global citizenship education competency. Therefore, the global citizenship education competency program for pre-service teachers should focus on improving global citizenship, including elements related to knowledge, skills, and attitude.
