Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a master''s course in the graduate school of disaster management at Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy (KAFNA). Methods: Initial items were drawn from relevant literature review and focus group interview (FGI) with 5 disaster nursing experts who have experienced in disaster site and 10 nurses who have completed disaster nursing education of KAFNA between February and August in 2020. The content validity index about initial items were reviewed by 10 experts in September, 2020. Results: The content analysis of FGI showed 8 categories (Prevention/preparedness management, response management, recovery management, disaster management practice, international health, disaster and mental heath, advanced statistics, seminar on thesis) including 22 sub-categories. Based on the review for usability by the experts who were instructors, and education curriculum for graduate course on disaster management were revised in the final version. The education curriculum for graduate course on disaster management were 10 subjects with 30 credits. Conclusion: The study proposed the academical development of disaster management field and improved the actual competency of disaster management.
