Abstract
The article is dedicated to problems of police functioning in the Republic of Korea (the RK, Republic). The author mentions a number of documents that govern the activities of police of the Republic. South Korean police is in the structure of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security. The author analyzes the structure and competence of the National Police Agency. The article presents a detailed analysis of Korean laws on activities of national and autonomous police. The article shows how the state controls police through national and autonomous police committees. It is emphasized that police performs administrative as well as criminal intelligence, surveillance and criminal procedure activities. The author characterizes provisions on the status of police officers. Increased attention is paid to the liability of police officers.
