Abstract

The present article analyzes the the model of the concept of «migrant» with the particular focus on the evaluative component of this concept that can be observed through the linguistic consciousness of Russian speakers, as a reflection of the value picture of the World typical for Russian society. The increase in mass migration flows to Russia, extensive media coverage of migrant problems and, as a consequence, greater attention to the problems associated with language adaptation of migrants, national language security as well as increased language conflict potential determine the relevance of the chosen research direction. Free associative experiment was used as a method of study, which allows to reveal the whole range of evaluative nuances. As a result, a field evaluative model of the concept of «migrant» was presented, the nucleus being comprised by neutral, positive and rational evaluation while negative, legal, aesthetic, ethical, theological and sensor evaluation being in the periphery.
