Abstract

Purpose. Тo evaluate and describe the effectiveness of episcleral buckling in patients with regmatogenic retinal detachment and low degree of proliferative vitreoretinopathy. Material and methods. Тhere were 2 patients under observation. patient B, born in 1991 with a diagnosis of OD — regmatogenic retinal detachment, a consequence of blunt trauma; OS — emmetropia. at admission BcVa OD = 0.85n/c; BcVa OS = 1.2. patient K., born in 1959 with a diagnOSis of OD — regmatogenic retinal detachment, mild hypermetropia; OS — mild hypermetropia. at admission BcVa OD = 0.35; BcVa OS = 0.95. Both patients underwent episcleral buckling with laser coagulation. Results. А 4 month after the operation, the uncorrected visual acuity OD in the first patient was 1.0. In the second patient, 2 years after the operation, visual acuity OS was 1.0. Both patients are subjectively satisfied with the obtained visual functions. Conclusion. Тhe use of episcleral buckling as a treatment for regmatogenic retinal detachment contributes to the improvement of clinical and functional parameters, and long-term treatment results demonstrate long-term remission. Keywords: episcleral buckling, regmatogenic retinal detachment
