Abstract

As interest in physical and mental health increases, yoga, which aims to integrate body, mind, and spirit, has established as one of the daily sports. Recently, yoga using props has been used for rehabilitation purposes such as improving body balance, correcting posture, and relieving pain. The purpose of this study is to provide an academic basis for the scientific understanding of yoga using props and its therapeutic application. Yoga using props helps to recover body functions by safely and effectively relaxing or strengthening muscles using props. Props used in yoga are bolsters, chairs, ropes, belts, blocks, and blankets. The yoga with props helps to correct the posture and relieve pain by not exceeding the range of motion of the joint, and maintaining an accurate and stable posture. The yoga program using props consists of preparation, posture correction and muscle strengthening, and relaxation phases. In this study, yoga programs using props tailored to relieve turtle neck syndrome were proposed.
